In the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world” (Philippians 2:15)

God uses His saints as lights to prevent damage and save lives. They illuminate the areas of life where people stumble, and eventually die. Depending on whether or not people listen and obey the Gospel, they go to Heaven or Hell.

A Christian should shine, so anyone who lives with him a week will know the Gospel. The Gospel saves lives, so why wouldn’t a loving human being share it? His conversation should glorify His Savior and Lord, if for no other reason, because of all He’s done for him personally.

The saint cares more about saving souls than keeping superficial friends. Christ warned, “I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you” (John 15:19-20). Your superficial friends may curse you for eternity if you don’t warn them.

Be led of the Holy Spirit. Bathe every word with prayer. Pray without ceasing for wisdom and guidance so as not to needlessly offend. Lovingly point out sins, and warn where they lead, so you won’t be responsible for sinners going to Hell.

“Do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul ... whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven.  But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 10:28-33).
