“Let Israel rejoice in their Maker” (Psalms 149:2)
Saints have every reason to “rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!” (Philippians 4:4). “In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore” (Psalms 16:11). Every attribute of God should enhance our joy.
We should rejoice, for He is wise, because he gives us His wisdom. “The LORD gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding; He stores up sound wisdom for the upright” (Proverbs 2:6–7).
We should rejoice, for He is mighty, because He gives us His strength. “The LORD is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I will praise Him” (Psalms 28:7).
We should rejoice, for He is everlasting, because He gives us His life. “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die” (John 11:25–26). ‘Rejoice because your names are written in heaven” (Luke 10:20).
We should rejoice, for He is our ever-flowing river of grace. “Whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life” (John 4:14).
Most importantly, we should rejoice, just because He’s our God. “ Though the fig tree may not blossom, Nor fruit be on the vines; Though the labor of the olive may fail, And the fields yield no food; Though the flock may be cut off from the fold, And there be no herd in the stalls -Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation” (Habakkuk 3:17-18).
