“You will guide me with Your counsel, And afterward receive me to glory” (Psalms 73:24)
In the Old Testament, the Holy Spirit anointed Priests, Prophets and Kings, but praise God, all New Testament saints have the indwelling Holy Spirit as a constant Guide and Helper.
He quickens Scripture for witnessing. The more Scriptures you know, the more the Holy Spirit can bring them to your remembrance. “The Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say” (Luke 12:11).
He teaches. “The anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things” ( 1 John 2:27).
He speaks for Christ. “He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak” (John 16:13).
He anoints ministers. “The Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God” (Acts 20:28).
He pours love into hearts. “Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us” (Romans 5:5).
He sanctifies. “That the offering of the Gentiles might be acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit” (Romans 15:16).
He binds saints together. “The communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all” (2 Corinthians 13:14).
He renews. “According to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit” (Titus 3:5).
He intercedes. “For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered” (Romans 8:26).
He helps saints keep a clean conscience. “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit” (Romans 8:1).
