“Have you entered the springs of the sea?” (Job 38:16)
Up until recent times, only God knew what was at the bottom of the ocean. Many things in nature still remain a mystery to scientists. Human knowledge goes only as far as man can explore. If this is the case with temporal things, it’s even more so with spiritual things. Why, then, do we worry about things like the sovereignty of God versus the free will of man, when the Bible says both are true? I might as well worry about why God loves me! The Bible says God is love, and that’s good enough for me!
Why am I curious to know why God allowed this one to die and that one to live, when “we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28)? By faith, I have peace in the fact He’s accomplishing His purpose, and I’m right in the middle of it. “For whom He foreknew (that’s me!), He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom He predestined (that’s me!), these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified” (Romans 8:29-30). I’m already glorified from God’s perspective!
“Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ …you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power” (Colossians 2:8-10).
Let others speculate about hidden things, I rejoice in the fact “He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love …according to the good pleasure of His will” (Ephesians 1:4-5).
