“The one who breaks open will come up before them” (Micah 2:13)
When Christ went before us, He conquered every foe and overcame every obstacle that stood in our way. His victory wasn’t by a chance, spur-of-the-moment decision.
God “chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will” (Ephesians 1:4-5).
Cheer up, oh saint! Your salvation was planned before time and space. But that wasn’t enough. At the precise ordained time in history, Christ came as a man to live a perfect life and die a perfect death to pay for your sins and give you eternal life. He travelled the road before you, to disable your enemies.
Are you afraid of death? Christ promised, “He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die” (John 11:25-26).
Are you afraid you’ll sin and lose your salvation? “If anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins” (1 John 2:1-2).
Are you afraid Satan will somehow win you back? Christ promised, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand” (John 10:27-28).
So fight the good fight of faith, and lay hold on eternal life (1 Timothy 6:12). Soon, you’ll be able to say with the Apostle Paul, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day” (2 Timothy 4:7-8). |
