“Let me go to the field, and glean heads of grain” (Ruth 2:2)
If you’ve forgotten who you are in Christ, come and glean to-day in the field of His promises. His promises will remind you, He’s a loving Savior and merciful Lord.
“A bruised reed He will not break” (Matthew 12:20). Do you feel worthless? Children break off reeds and make them into whistles, but if the reed is grabbed too hard, air won’t flow through it, so it’s thrown to the ground and trampled underfoot. Is this how you feel? Christ doesn’t treat you this way. While Satan and his world trample you underfoot, Christ says, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-30).
“And smoking flax He will not quench” (Matthew 12:20). Is your life one failure after another? Have you been like a candle wick that gives no light, just foul, poisonous smoke? Have all your dreams ended in a lingering stench? Are you having to live with the result of a series of bad decisions, and though you’re willing to pay your debts, you’d like to start fresh? “‘Come now, and let us reason together,’ Says the Lord, ‘Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool. If you are willing and obedient’” (Isaiah 1:18-19).
“The Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’ And let him who hears say, ‘Come!’ And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely” (Revelation 22:17). “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water” (John 7:37-38).
