“The mercy of God” (Psalms 52:8)
His mercy is tender. With a gentle, loving touch, He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. He’s specifically shows mercy in ways known only to the recipient. He can do this because He knows every thought and feeling and what causes them.
His mercy is great. There’s nothing little in God; His mercy is like Himself – it’s infinite. You can’t measure it. His mercy is so great it forgives great sins to great sinners, after great lengths of time, and then gives great favors and great privileges, and raises us up to great enjoyments in the great Heaven of the great God.
His mercy isn’t deserved. Deserved mercy is just another word for justice. If we received justice rather than mercy, we’d go to Hell. We could live a perfect life from now on, and still we’d deserve Hell. There’s no right on the sinner's part to God’s mercy.
His mercy is loving. His mercy is given with a love that mere mortals can’t fully comprehend, with no hesitance on His part. He lifts spirits, anoints wounds, binds up broken bones.
His mercy is unfailing. His mercy will follow you all the days of your life. His mercy will be with you when you’re tempted and keep you from yielding. His mercy will be with you in trouble to prevent you from sinking. It will be your light and life; and with you until God takes you home.
His mercies are many. Millions have received them, but the supply is endless. The reservoir of mercies is full to the brim and never exhausted. They are as available to all who ask. “You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, And abundant in mercy to all those who call upon You” (Psalms 86:2).
