“In both summer and winter it shall occur” (Zechariah 14:8)

The flow of every river on Earth is affected by rain, weather, and seasons, but God’s River flows the same for eternity. The seasons change and you change, but your Lord never changes. Your love may dry up in the scorching heat of summer, but God’s love and grace never cease. Your love may become hard as ice in the bitter cold of winter, but God’s love and grace keep flowing.

Zechariah described the River of God as living waters that flow continually. The Apostle John saw “a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb” (Revelation 22:1). The living water has healing power, in fact, “everything will live wherever the river goes” (Ezekiel 47:9).

Christ promised living waters to all who believe in Him. “‘If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’ But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive” (John 7:37-39). Since the Day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit is given to live in saints, who become one spirit with God (1 Corinthians 6:17), and because of this, “the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us” (Romans 5:5).

If you want to see what prevents the Living Water from flowing in your life, look in the mirror. “Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass. He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, And your justice as the noonday. Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him” (Psalms 37:4-7).
