“You who love the Lord, hate evil!” (Psalms 97:10)
This devotion specifically deals with sexual sin.
1) People who continue in sexual sin will not be saved. “Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? ... fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites” (1 Corinthians 6:9).
2) Instincts of the flesh cause everyone to sin, but there’s a remedy for saints. “For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do” (Romans 7:15). “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit” (Romans 8:1).
3) God tells us specifically how instincts for procreation are to be fulfilled. The Word of God calls sexual desires within marriage, “love”, while sexual desires outside of marriage are called “lust”. Saints have the God-given ability to escape “the corruption that is in the world through lust” (2 Peter 1:4), but sinners are “lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God” (2 Timothy 3:4). God only blesses sexual pleasure in marriage: “Let your fountain be blessed, And rejoice with the wife of your youth ... Let her breasts satisfy you at all times; And always be enraptured with her love”” (Proverbs 5:18-19).
4) Every saint was once a sinner. “And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins ... in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others” (Ephesians 2:1-3).
5) But now you are light in the Lord.“Walk as children of light … finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret” (Ephesians 5:8-13).
"Order my footsteps by Thy Word, And make my heart sincere; Let sin have no dominion, Lord, But keep my conscience clear."
