“And the glory which You gave Me I have given them” (John 17:22)
Christ gives His saints the glory the Father gives to Him. Even a tenth would have been generous, but He gives it all. Like the Syrophoenician woman, we would have been content with “the crumbs which fall from their masters' table” (Matthew 15:21), but He has us sit with Him at the feast. He wants His bride to be as rich as Himself, and there isn’t a glory or a grace which He doesn’t share.
He’s made us joint-heirs with Himself. “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father." The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs — heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ” (Romans 8:14-17).
He’s empties everything He owns into the coffers of the Church, and gives us the keys to every room in His house. He invites us to enjoy His treasure, and encourages us to take as much as we can carry. The fulness of His all-sufficiency is as free to the believer as the air he breathes. Christ puts the cup of His love and grace to the saint’s lip, and bids him drink forever. What better proof of fellowship can heaven or earth produce?
"When I stand before the throne Dressed in beauty not my own;
When I see Thee as Thou art, Love Thee with unsinning heart;
Then, Lord, shall I fully know - Not till then - how much I owe."
