“In the name of the Lord I will destroy them” (Psalms 118:12)
Christ’s sacrifice purchased you entirely, spirit, soul and body. The goal of God is to “sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Thessalonians 5:23-24). It’s the business of the newborn nature God gave to you to force your spirit, soul and body to submit to the Lordship of Christ.
“Put on the New Man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him” (Colossians 3:10). “Be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the New Man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness” (Ephesians 4:23-24).
You must subdue all your powers and passions to Christ, and never be satisfied till He occupies every aspect of your being. The Apostle Paul was horrified that saints in the Corinthian Church needed to be reminded that Christ should rule the flesh: “Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? ... he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him ... your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's” (1 Corinthians 6:13-20).
“Oh my soul, Christ suffered for my sins, and redeemed me with His most precious blood. Should I allow my memory to become a storehouse for evil, or let my passions rule me? No, my soul, you belong to Christ, and sin has no right to you. You are able to overcome your flesh with the Holy Spirit’s help”. God told the Apostle Paul, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness” After that, Paul said, “Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me” (2 Corinthians 12:9).
