“Let us not sleep, as others do” (1 Thessalonians 5:6)
Saints can help each other be vigilant against the schemes of Satan by caring enough to “exhort one another daily, while it is called ‘Today,’ lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin” (Hebrews 3:13).
“See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another in the fear of God” (Ephesians 5:15-21).
If you can’t find this kind of fellowship at your church, look for another. If you think you can survive without fellowship, you’ve either never experienced Biblical fellowship, and don’t know what you’re missing, or you’ve lost the keen edge of perception. “As iron sharpens iron, So a man sharpens the countenance of his friend” (Proverbs 27:16). Regular Christian company keeps you accountable to the people that care about you most, and when you have a problem, you can seek Biblical counsel, for “in the multitude of counselors there is safety” (Proverbs 11:14).
