“I have tested you in the furnace of affliction” (Isaiah 48:10)

You can comfort yourself with the knowledge that God tests you with trials for your good. “We know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28). Let the worst happen, God is for you. Poverty, sickness and imprisonment can’t remove His presence and provision. If you are poor in material things, you know you are rich in Him. Even if your home has no furniture, He dwells with you, and that’s all that matters.

The Christian looks at life from the eternal perspective. "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works” (Matthew 16:24-27).

"Therefore do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble” (Matthew 6:31-34).

"Through floods and flames, if Jesus lead, I'll follow where He goes."
