“But all the Israelites would go down to the Philistines to sharpen each man's plowshare, his mattock, his ax, and his sickle” (1 Samuel 13:20)

When God gave the Promised Land to Israel, He told them, if they were to succeed as a nation, they would have to drive out the heathen nations. “You shall make no covenant with them, nor with their gods. They shall not dwell in your land, lest they make you sin against Me. For if you serve their gods, it will surely be a snare to you” (Exodus 23:32-33).

The Philistines were never destroyed, and at this time in history, made possession of weapons illegal, and the Jews were not even allowed to sharpen their tools. When a nation doesn’t obey God, it ends us serving Satan. If you live in a heathen nation, you must use every weapon to fight for the Kingdom of God. Is the Word of God called ‘hate speech” where you live? Can you be arrested for speaking the truth in love? This, and much worse, happens when a nation doesn’t obey God.

Preaching, teaching, praying and giving must be used to slay the Philistines. We must use every talent God has given us, in season and out, because Satan controls the government, and most of the people. Your tools need to be sharpened, or they won’t be able to slay the heathen. See how Satan promotes sexual depravity and killing babies. See how he enslaves with addictions and destroys families. See how he confuses the roles of male and female and convinces people they’re not what God ordained. This is the evil we must destroy with the Gospel, one person at a time. Oh, if only we would be good Samaritans, seeking whom we may bless with the truth!
