“Can you bind the cluster of the Pleiades, Or loose the belt of Orion?” (Job 38:31)

When man looks into the night sky, he wonders at how the stars are always in their place. Storms can obscure the view of them for a time, but as soon as the clouds disperse, there they are, as reliable as a map for sailors to chart their course. Man can change the course of a river, but he can’t change the course of even one star. When man boasts of his power, heaven laughs us to scorn.

Man builds his home near an ocean, and God sends a hurricane to flood it. Man builds his home far inland, and God sends a tornado to destroy it. Man builds on land that has had no history of floods, and discovers a so-called, 500 year flood happens any time God ordains. Man builds on land that seems safe from tornadoes and God sends strong winds to turn a small brush fire into a raging inferno, destroying every home in its path. “Acts of God” exclusions exist in insurance policies for a reason. But there are acts of God far more important than these. God sends Spirit-floods and Spirit-winds that have eternal consequences. If you haven’t been baptized and born of the Holy Spirit, you’re headed for Hell. If you haven’t experienced God’s life-changing spiritual flood and fire, I suggest you start earnestly seeking God to do an “act of God” on you.

You may be a prisoner in a high security jail cell, with no freedom in this world, but God can instantly set you free for eternity. You could be living in the deadest, most evil community in your country, but God can send a life-changing wind that no man or government can stop. On the other hand, if God binds up a man or a people in soul-bondage, who can stop Him? He alone can remove the spiritual death from an individual and a community. The same God that uses wind to turn a small fire into an inferno can save an entire community starting with a single conversion.

“Oh Lord, send your wind and let my conversion be used to spread a fire that cannot be quenched until my country is saved”.
