“And you shall be called Sought Out” (Isaiah 62:12)

God not only sought us, but He “sought us out”. “What woman, having ten silver coins, if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds it? And when she has found it, she calls her friends and neighbors together, saying, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found the piece which I lost!' Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents" (Luke 15:8-10).

Glory to God, he sought you out! No fortress could hide you, no filthiness disguise you. He followed you into every haunt of iniquity and ran you down, brought you home, adopted you and gave you a seat at His table. “Bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet. And bring the fatted calf here and kill it, and let us eat and be merry; for this my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found” (Luke 15:22-24).

The depraved lives of some of God's people, before God changed them, is irrefutable evidence of supernatural regeneration and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Only God knew how He was going to change them, and only God can keep them from going back into sin. Why does God do it? Love. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God” (John 3:16-18).
