“The Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world” (1 John 4:14)

We understand submission by looking at how the Son submits to the Father. Even though As God, “all things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made” (John 1:3), He was sent to be the Savior of mankind with His Father's permission, authority, consent, and assistance. We sometimes forget that even though the persons of the Trinity vary in function, there’s no distinction in honor.

We can mistakenly ascribe the honor of our salvation, or at least the love that motivated it, more to Christ than to the Father. This is a mistake. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are One in fulfilling the eternal covenant and work of salvation. It’s the Father who sent and equipped Christ for you. Consider that Christ did only what His Father told Him to do (John 5:19) and spoke only what His Father told Him to say (John 12:49). In the wounds of the dying Savior we see the love of the great I AM. Let every thought of Jesus be connected with the Eternal, ever-blessed Father.

So thank the Father, for “it pleased the LORD to bruise Him; He has put Him to grief. When You make His soul an offering for sin ...By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many, For He shall bear their iniquities” (Isaiah 53:10-11).
