“My expectation is from Him” (Psalms 62:5)
It’s the privilege of saints to speak this way. A true believer looks only to Christ for his expectation, for He knows he’s nothing apart from Christ, and would fail if His grace was withdrawn. Christ is the only answer for those searching for meaning and significance. “All things were created through Him and for Him … the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence … whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross” (Colossians 1:16-20).
Saints can reasonably expect blessings and persecution, “righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit (Romans 14:17), along with “the afflictions of Christ, for the sake of His body” (Colossians 1:24). Salvation is a package deal. “We have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness nor handling the word of God deceitfully, but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God. But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them” (2 Corinthians 1:2-4).
And after a life of being persecuted for Christ’s sake, we will hear, "Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world” (Matthew 25:34). “Oh, my soul, live for God; live with the desire and resolve to glorify Him in life and death, for all your expectation is from Him”.
