“Thus says the Lord God: "I will also let the house of Israel inquire of Me to do this for them” (Ezekiel 36:37)
Before you knew God, it was His grace that enabled you to pray to Him. First He enabled you to see your sin, and after a time of rebellion, you finally submitted to Him in prayer. It was with prayer you found peace through the blood of Christ. “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9).
Effective prayer is seeking God, and submitting to His authority. King David passed this secret of success on to his son: “If you seek Him, He will be found by you” (1 Chronicles 28:9). The Apostle Paul revealed the same secret for success: “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit” (Ephesians 6:18), and “pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” (1 Thessalonians 5:17-18).
Prayer keeps you close to God. “I sought the Lord, and He heard me, And delivered me from all my fears. They looked to Him and were radiant ...the Lord heard him, And saved him out of all his troubles” (Psalms 34:4-6). Prayer always goes before blessings and is connected with blessings to show us the value of it. Prayer remedies a defect of fallen man that he doesn’t appreciate the value of things until he’s sought them earnestly.
"Prayer makes the darken'd cloud withdraw; Prayer climbs the ladder Jacob saw; Gives exercise to faith and love; Brings every blessing from above."
