“And they realized that they had been with Jesus” (Acts 4:13)
The life of Christ should be displayed in the words and actions of His people. Christ has given saints a new heart and His Holy Spirit, so naturally their lives should be like that of Christ. “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17). “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them” (Ephesians 2:10).
Do sinners say of you, "he’s been with Jesus"? Are you concerned for His kingdom? “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness” (Matthew 6:33)? Do you deny yourself? “No one can serve two masters ... You cannot serve God and mammon” (Matthew 6:24). Are you devout? “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit” (Ephesians 6:18). Do you do the Father’s will? “The Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do” (John 5:19). Are you patient? Do you forgive your enemies? Do you bless those who curse you? Do you do good to those who hate you? (Matthew 5:43-44).
Are you more afraid of man than God? “Do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell” (Matthew 10:28). A Christian should be bold like Christ. “Whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 10:32-33).
If people can’t tell you’ve been with Jesus, now’s the time to face the truth before it’s too late. “Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?” (2 Corinthians 13:5).
