“Tell me ... Where you feed your flock, Where you make it rest at noon” (Song of Solomon 1:7)

These words are typical of what a saint says when he longs for intimacy with Christ. But unfortunately, many saints have lost their First Love. The number one reason they stop seeking the Bread of Life is they’ve gotten used to “junk food”. Could it be you’ve lost your First Love, and been walking the spiritual fence? The Apostle John warned the saints in his church, “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world - the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life - is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever” (1 John 2:15-17).

If you’re weak in faith, and prone to stumble, if you think you lack the power to do what you know is right, that’s exactly the reason you need to return to your First Love. Satan and the world will always give you seemingly good reasons to stay away from Christ. That’s why your Master warned, “What profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works” (Matthew 16:26-27).

Oh Lord, help me to not take You for granted. Help me to seek You while You can be found, and call on You while You’re near. If I sincerely return to You, I know You’ll have mercy on me, and restore our relationship. But I’ve drunken from the well of the world so long, my thoughts are not Your thoughts. I’ve eaten food offered to idols for so long, my ways are not Your ways. (Isaiah 55:6-8). That’s the reason I need You now, more than ever, before it’s too late.

“Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place - unless you repent ... He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the Tree of Life” (Revelation 2:5-7).
