“The bin of flour was not used up, nor did the jar of oil run dry, according to the word of the LORD which He spoke by Elijah” (1 Kings 17:16)

See the faithfulness of God. This poor woman had just enough to make a final meal for her child before they died of starvation, but Elijah the prophet promised, God would take care of them if she would make “a small cake from it first, and bring it to me” (1 Kings 17:8). See the faithfulness of this woman. She believed the Word of the LORD and obeyed Elijah, and from that day forward, every time she went to the flour barrel and jar of oil, they were replenished.

Saving faith is trusting God with your life. Christ told saints, “do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' … But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you” (Matthew 6:31-33). She sought first to obey God and He provided. If she could have worked for the food, she would have. “Let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need” (Ephesians 4:28).

When God changes a sinner into a saint, he becomes responsible and productive. “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them” (Ephesians 2:10). Because the saint has a heart to glorify God in everything he does, God gives him the grace to not only increase in  spiritual wealth, but in most cases, material blessings.

“His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him … for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ” ( Peter 1: 3-8).
