“He first found his own brother Simon” (John 1:41)
The first thought of saints when they’ve been forgiven of sin should be “I’ve got to tell somebody!” There’s no reason to be ashamed of the Gospel. “It is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes” (Romans 1:16). If, the love of God was shed abroad in your heart by the Holy Spirit (Romans 5:5), you’ll naturally want to share the Good News. Christ said “when the Holy Spirit has come upon you ... you shall be witnesses" (Acts 1:8).
If, you don’t tell the people that are closest to you about Christ, perhaps you’re not saved. “Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword. For I have come to set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and a man's enemies will be those of his own household. He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it” (Matthew 10:34-39). The Greek word translated "worthy" is axios, which means "self-evident proof". If you don't witness to your family, that is likely proof you're not saved.
It’s OK to hand out tracts to strangers, but don’t avoid your family. You may be lacking in communication skills with others, but you know better than anyone what needs to be said to people you’ve lived with. Oh! Dear friend! Don’t underestimate the workings of the Holy Spirit! When you need Him most, He’ll give you the words to say. But you must step out in faith in order for Him to use you. Christ told us, “Do not worry about how or what you should answer, or what you should say. For the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say" (Luke 12:11-12).
