“For to me, to live is Christ” (Philippians 1:21)
If you’re a saint, there’s a definite point in time when you began to live not only for Christ but from Christ. Your salvation began when you were born of the Holy Spirit. The indwelling Holy Spirit was given to you so you could live from God in order to live for God. At that point, you were willing to give up everything you owned in exchange for the Pearl of Great Price and the Hidden Treasure (Matthew 13:44-46). Christ won your love and your heart beat for Him alone. You dedicated your life for His glory and you were even willing to die for the Gospel.
“For to me, to live is Christ” means more than what most people think. They think the Apostle Paul is saying the purpose of his life is to serve Christ. But this was not his full meaning. Paul is saying Jesus is his breath, his soul, his heart and his Life. Can you say the same? Can you honestly say “to live is Christ”?
Are you conducting your business for Christ, or have you separated your life from Christ to get ahead in the world? How can you do that without committing spiritual adultery? It’s easy to separate the parts of your life from Christ if your life is not Christ., but if the Holy Spirit dwells within you, your Life should be Christ. “Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is Life because of righteousness” (Romans 8:9-10).
Lord, I consecrate myself to You as your willing slave. Help me to live from you as I did when I was first Born of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
