“Perfect in Christ Jesus” (Colossians 1:28)

You know from experience you have faults. Every time you have an evil thought or speak an evil word it’s a reminder you’re not perfect. But at the same time, despite your shortcomings, you know when God looks at you, He sees someone who’s legally perfect in Christ Jesus, and therefore “accepted in the Beloved” (Ephesians 1:6).

But there’s a second perfection coming. God will supernaturally make the Church pure, and “present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing” (Ephesians 5:27). Then will be fulfilled the words of the hymn, "With my Savior's garments on, Holy as the Holy One” (Joseph Hart). The blood of Christ will change your body to be like His. Then you’ll not only be legally clean, but your new body will be clean as well. Then you’ll know, taste and feel the happiness of being "Complete in Christ”. Even the most humble Christian will be “filled with all the fullness of God” (Ephesians 3:19).

Imagine! Your heart will be entirely His one day! No more mistakes and excuses. No more accommodations for the flesh! Christ will make you fit for heaven in an instant. “In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality” (1 Corinthians 15:52-53).

“There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body …as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man” (1 Corinthians 15:44-49).
