“There remains therefore a rest for the people of God” (Hebrews 4:9)

The state of the saint will be very different in heaven. Here we work and become tired, but in Heaven, we’ll have new bodies and immortal energy to do whatever God wants us to do. Here, because we want to please God, we don’t have enough strength to do the things we want, so our constant prayer is, "help me to serve You Lord". If a saint is doing his best, it’s always less than he wants to do, even while he says, "though I get tired in my body, I never tire of doing His work”.

Oh! Christian, the hot day of weariness won’t last forever; the sun is nearing the horizon; it will rise again with a brighter day than you’ve ever seen, where you’ll serve God day and night, and at the same time, rest from your labor. Here, rest is partial, there, it’s perfect. Here, the Christian is never satisfied; he feels he hasn’t accomplished what he should. There, everyone is at rest; they’ve attained the summit of the mountain. They have no reason to go any higher. Oh, weary saint; you’ll rest forever! Can you imagine it?

Here, your best joys are limited by mortality; your darling delights fade, your temporary pleasures drain; your bright days are followed by dark nights; your incoming tides of hope are followed by outgoing tides of gloom. But in Heaven, there are no limits; the harp never rusts, the crown never tarnishes, the eye never dims, the voice never weakens, the heart never backslides, for “in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye ... we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality” (1 Corinthians 15:52-53).
