“All those who heard it marveled at those things” (Luke 2:18)
When sinners witness a miracle, they can give Glory to God by just accepting it as reality. The shepherds in Bethlehem marveled at the miracles that happened with the incarnation of Christ, but you have infinite reasons to marvel, since you are the recipient of why Christ became man. He paid your ransom, a terrible price! You see your redemption as marvelous because He set you free from sin and death, and you no longer fear judgment (1 John 4:17). The greatest miracle of all is Christ forsook His throne and intimacy with the Father, to suffer for you. Let your marveling at these things turn to worship and heartfelt thanksgiving.
Marvel that the love of God has been poured out in your heart by the Holy Spirit (Romans 5:5). Marvel that “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control” (Galatians 5:22-23). Marvel that you can pray about everything that bothers you and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your heart and mind (Philippians 4:6-7). Marvel at the Blessed Hope, because, “in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye”, you’ll be made immortal (1 Corinthians 15:52-54). The shepherds saw only the beginning, but you are the fulfilment of the mystery, “the things which angels desire to look into” (1 Peter 1:12).
Christ is IN you. “The mystery which has been hidden from ages and from generations, but now has been revealed to His saints ... which is Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:26-27). “You are the temple of the living God. As God has said: ‘I will dwell in them And walk among them. I will be their God, And they shall be My people’” (2 Corinthians 6:16). “But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you .... And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you” (Romans 8:9-11). Yes, it is marvelous indeed.
