“Israel served for a spouse, And for a wife he tended sheep” (Hosea 12:12)

Jacob worked twenty years for his father-in law tending sheep, and obtained two wives.
Christ came to Earth as the great Shepherd, to tend His sheep, and obtained millions of souls, the Bride of Christ. He “bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness - by whose stripes you were healed. For you were like sheep going astray, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls” (1 Peter 2:24-25).

If you’re saved, you are in the Bride of Christ. The apostle Paul said of saints,, “ I have betrothed you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ” (2 Corinthians 11:2).

The Bride of Christ should not commit adultery. “Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a harlot? Certainly not! …  your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s” (1 Corinthians 6:15-20).

Christ wanted a perfect Bride, so He gave Himself for you, that He might sanctify and cleanse you with the washing of water by the Word, that He might present you, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that you should be holy and without blemish (Ephesians 5:25-27).

So, “present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God” (Romans 12:1-2).
