“I will cut off … Those who worship and swear oaths by the LORD, But also swear by Milcom” (Zephaniah 1:3-5)

God hates hypocrisy. Duplicity is an abomination with God. The idolater who openly worships a false god, is better off than those who pretend to worship God while giving their hearts to the world. “These, like natural brute beasts made to be caught and destroyed …will utterly perish in their own corruption, and will receive the wages of unrighteousness” (Peter 2:12-13).

“If we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful expectation of judgment” (Hebrews 10:26-27).

If you profess to be a follower of Christ, He will be all or nothing. There’s no room for another god. That’s why Christ said, “I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth” (Revelation 3:15-16).

The apostle James warned saints: “Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God” (James 4:4).

Walking the fence is not an option. “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world -the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life - is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever” (1 John 2:15-17).

“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life” (Galatians 6:7-8).
