“And you shall be witnesses to Me” (Acts 1:8)
If you want to be a witness for Christ, “walk in love, as Christ also has loved us … But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints; neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks. For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ” (Ephesians 5:1-5).
Many modern Christians think love is tolerating sin. The opposite is true: “Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret” (Ephesians 5:11-12).
So why have so many ministers stopped preaching against sin? It would make them unpopular. They pack their churches with sinners who “will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth” (2 Timothy 4:3-4).
Christian, live a holy life. You don’t need to say, “look at me, I live a holy life” if everyone can see it for themselves. Don’t fear sinners or religious hypocrites. And if God allows them to persecute you, rejoice that you are counted worthy to suffer with your Lord; and rejoice also in this - that your suffering and loss, will shame those who deny Christ by their sin.
“This is a faithful saying: For if we died with Him, We shall also live with Him. If we endure, We shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us” (2 Timothy 2:11-12).
