“Get up into the high mountain” (Isaiah 40:9)
This devotion is for saints. “You were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). You must choose fellowship with Christ, moment-by-moment, even though the world constantly tries to drag you down.
The antidote to the love of money: “The love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, but godliness with contentment is great gain … having food and clothing, with these we shall be content” (1 Timothy 6:6-10).
The antidote to the fear of man: “Do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do … Fear Him who, after He has killed, has power to cast into hell” (Luke 12:4-5).
The antidote to worldliness: “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” (Romans 12:1-2).
The antidote to compromise: “Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers … For you are the temple of the living God.” (2 Corinthians 6:14-16).
The antidote to laziness: “No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier” (2 Timothy 2:4).
The antidote to backsliding: “I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent” (Revelation 3:18-19).
Rouse yourself from your complacency! Cast away your lethargy, your coldness, and return to your first love! Take the attitude of the apostle Paul, “I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me” (Philippians 3:12).
