““He will take of Mine and declare it to you” (John 16:15)

Christ assured us the indwelling Holy Spirit will tell us what our Lord wants us to know. In fact the Apostle Paul identified the Holy Spirit as the way Christ dwells IN saints. “If anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His” (Romans 8:9).

He helps us with our weaknesses, comforts us, intercedes for us, gives us assurance of our salvation, and most important, quickens the Scriptures to our understanding.

There are times when all the wisdom and promises of the Bible seem ineffective until the Holy Spirit quickens them to our specific need. We are hungry and thirsty, but can’t find food and drink until the Holy Spirit directs us to the abundant Bread of Life and Living Water in the Scriptures.

The Holy Spirit of truth takes of the things of Christ, and weaves them into the individual tapestry of our lives. Christ hasn’t concealed His medicine, or placed it beyond our reach. No, by the indwelling Holy Spirit, the apothecary of Heaven is at our disposal.

Oh, saint, if you’re struggling with a problem too great to bear, your Father didn’t leave you without a way to access the treasure trove of His Word. He’s given you The Helper to assist you in determining your true condition and uncover your hidden motives by quickening the Word of God to your understanding.

“The word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account” (Hebrews 4:12–13).
