“The LORD will give grace and glory” (Psalms 84:11)
It’s God’s nature to give…He is love (1 John 4:16). His gifts are beyond measure, and they are given as freely as light and warmth from the sun. It’s God’s nature to give...it is His pleasure. “He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world … according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace” (Ephesians 1:4–6). It’s God’s nature to promise good things…and He keeps His promises. “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
He gives grace constantly, and the grace is multiplied because He gives it with love. He comforts, preserves, sanctifies, directs, instructs, and assists His saints without ceasing, and He’ll keep doing this until we go to be with Him in Heaven.
We may get sick, but He’ll give grace; we may lose wealth, but He’ll give grace; we may die, but His grace will be with us in the darkest hour. Reader, how blessed it is as the years pass, to know whatever happens, “the Lord will give grace and glory.”
For the saint, the word “and” in this verse should be the source of unlimited joy. The grace we enjoy now is but a slight taste compared to the banquet to come. The “and” connects the grace of today to the unspeakable glory of tomorrow.
God can only do so much while we’re in our corrupt bodies. Yes, grace keeps us while we endure life on Earth, but “flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption” (1 Corinthians 15:50).
We’ll be given new bodies of glory in Heaven. How soon, God only knows. It may be before this month of October has run out, we shall see the Holy City; but even if it takes longer, it will happen just as He promised. The glory of heaven, the glory of eternity, the glory of Christ, will all be given to you.
